The Extroducer: A New Way to Deliver Drugs

The Extroducer microcatheter

The Extroducer, a novel microinjection catheter, can inject cells, biologic and small molecule therapy directly into organs. Due to the unique mechanical properties and design, multiple injections can be delivered to the intended target, opening the door for improved retention of cell based and biologic therapy and the repurposing of compounds for greater and safer local effect.

Based in Stockholm, the home of the internationally renowned Karolinska Institute, Smartwise was founded in 2015 to develop the Extroducer technology invented in the laboratory of Staffan Holmin, MD, PhD, the Söderberg Professor of Clinical Imaging at Karolinska Institute.
